A Perversion?
Recently I've ran out of space to download the rest of the 1st season of desperate housewives. Out of desperation to find out what goes on in the series, I resorted to reading the transcripts of the later episodes and wound up reading the whole season. It was when I read the 19th episode when Bree referring to her son's claimed homosexuality said
After reading that I started wondering.. Clearly Bree saw homosexuality as a perversion. And I'm guessing that a lot of straight people who don't understand homosexuality would agree with her. The question is, what makes something sexually perverse?
There exists a variety of deviant sexual activities that a minority may participate in, including Rex's S&M, Jay and his ever so infamous 'scat' (pleaaasee don't show up 0n google) and other things like bestiality, incest et al.
Sooo.. does this mean that homosexuality is up there with the other stuff too?? If it is, does that imply that homosexuals should give the same respect to the other 'deviants' as homosexuals themselves demand from society? That would mean that we would have to come to accept things like incest. OMG... soon it'd be the "L.G.B.T.I.S&M" ...hehe.. We've always demanded equality from society... so does that mean that incests should be given a right to do what they want?
So now the question is... who defines what is morally right? We've always tried to say that there's nothing wrong with being gay... but what if a brother and sister, or a father and daughter start saying that there's nothing wrong with incest relationships. I mean they both love each other, and they're not hurting anybody else, so why stop them? (Actually.. I'm curious whether incest is a crime just like homosexuality is..)
I can't really think of a way to differentiate homosexuality from the other perversions except that I feel that being gay is linked more towards genetics than it is to socialization. But what if some scientists start to prove that being incest or having bestial desires are probably genetic as well... boy will our society be reallyyyy weeirrdddd... I mean soon they'll legalize incest marriages and mayb even inter-species ones as well. I think that's where religion comes in.. to try and limit the almost limitless human mind. Just as how law is trying to create order in society, so to is religion. This may really be the actual reason why so many people are against gay marriages... not because it's bad.. in fact there is NOTHING WRONG with it if you ask me.. But it's probably more to do with the fear that soon, anything will go. Of course some may say that there's nothing wrong with a liberal society.
This post is not to make clear my opinions on the issue, for i actually have none.. I just wanna see what other people think abt it.. so do leave a comment.. thx!

oh well, there's that thing about both being consenting adults. you gotta be aware what you are getting into.
incest cases that Do surface are bloody rape cases or when one of the party is not really mature anough to know their own feelings. and oedipus/elektra complexes... have they been thoroughly studied by somebody OTHER than freud? i haven't a clue actually, so who knows how they really work. and you don't see redneck cousin marriages hitting the headlines unless in tabloids only eh?
Its really about taking away peoples freedom of choice. Most children arent mature enough to understand much therefore it takes away their choice in way. Gay sex & incest have very different boundries.... I think as long as you don't hurt others with your own little peversions, its ok. But what do I know? Tra la la la...

Society can't differentiate homosexuality and incest - they think everything ELSE besides marriage and kids as perversion.
Yes I would agree with the both of them - incest usually happens when one of them is not old enough to know - one of them is usually the father.
Humans are biologically wired to NOT like your own siblings, but it still happens, though not as common as father-daughter. After all, siblings share more genes than with their parents.
Still, you have a good question there - who decides what is wrong and right? I suppose that if two ADULTS know what they are doing, we can't really say they are wrong.
Personally I am opposed to father-daughter, but not brother-sister. In-breeding is quite common in some ancient communities anyway.
